General Access

The Law Library is primarily for the use of students, faculty / adjuncts and staff of Widener Law Commonwealth.

Alumni and members of the bench and bar are welcome to use the law library when it is open and are not limited to the public hours. Use of the law library is for legal research purposes and is not intended for meetings, including client meetings, of any kind. Upon arrival, please call Campus Safety at 717.541.3948 and present a valid photo ID and bar membership card.  You must sign the visitor’s log.

Members of the public are welcome to use the law library Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Use is restricted to the law library on the main floor, for legal research purposes only. Upon arrival, call Campus Safety at 717.541.3948 and present a valid photo ID. You must sign the visitor’s log. 

Guests, speakers, and other visitors may be granted access to the law library for a variety of educational purposes. Upon arrival, call Campus Safety at 717.541.3948 and present a valid photo ID. Your host will have submitted your name to Campus Safety for inclusion on our daily Visitor Log.   

Special circumstances may require changes or alterations in law library admittance hours. Members of the public, alumni, members of the bench and bar, and all others should review the Building Access Information and hours before coming to campus.

Study Rooms / Collaboration Rooms

Study / Collaboration Rooms are restricted to Widener Law Commonwealth students, faculty / adjuncts, staff, and alumni studying for the bar. 

Most study rooms are using a reservation system restricted to Widener affiliations. Other study rooms are available on a first come first serve basis. Reservations are needed for groups in the library classroom/wireless lab. If you wish to reserve the library classroom/wireless lab, contact Paula Heider.  

Professors can reserve rooms for class purposes or conferences. Academic Success Fellows can also use the space for their office hours. 

Classes may not be held in the Law Library unless they are affiliated with Widener University and approved by the library in advance.

Resources

Commercial databases are for use by students, faculty / adjuncts and staff of Widener Law Commonwealth.

Off-campus access to the library databases is restricted to law school students, faculty and staff. Login requires the barcode number on the back of your Widener ID card.

Patrons are permitted to use designated computers to search the library catalog and access free resources. Assistance is provided as needed.

Library personnel can assist with research but will not conduct research on behalf of patrons. 

There is a fee for making photocopies or printing.
