Patron Code of Conduct

The mission of the Law Library is to serve the students, faculty / adjuncts, and staff of Widener Law Commonwealth.

To provide a safe and respectful environment that is free of disruptive behavior for collaborative and individual study and research, the Law Library expects all library users to abide by the following code of conduct:

  • Patrons may not remove library items without proper checkout.
  • Library study rooms and classrooms are for the use of Widener Law Commonwealth students, alumni studying for the bar exam, faculty, and staff. Group study has priority over individual use of a study room.  Do not leave items unattended in a study room.
  • Beverages in spill-proof or closed containers are permitted in the library. • Noisy or extended conversations in person are discouraged in the library. Cell phone conversations are permitted in the lobby of the building.  Cell phone rings should be silenced while in the library.
  • The library is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items. Personal belongings should not be left unattended.  Campus Safety maintains a lost and found.
  • Children are not to be left unattended in the library.
  • Disruptive behavior by anyone in the library may be referred to Campus Safety and can lead to removal from the library. Disruptive behavior includes but is not limited to:  excessively loud conversation; cell phone conversations held within the library; interference with another’s use of the library; and display of sexually explicit images on computer screens.
