Structure of the New Jersey Bar Exam

Tuesday Schedule

7:30 am – 9:00 am       Registration and seat check in

9:00 am – 9:30 am       Instructions

9:30 am – 12:30 pm    Multi-State Performance Test (MPT) - two 90-minute items

12:30 pm – 1:30 pm    Break – one hour

1:30 pm – 2:00 pm      Instructions (applicants must be seated for instructions)

2:00 pm – 5:00 pm     Multi-State Essay Exam (MEE) - six 30-minute questions

9:30 am – 12:30 pm    Multi-State Bar Exam (MBE) morning session – 100 questions

12:30 pm – 1:30 pm    Break – one hour

Please note, beginning with the February 2017 NJ Bar Examination, New Jersey became a UBE (Uniform Bar Examination) state. MPRE

The MPRE is required in the State of New Jersey. Minimum passing score is 75.

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is a two-hour, 60-question multiple-choice examination developed by NCBE that is administered three times per year.
