Orientation to Delaware Law Library

This library guide is for new faculty and students at Delaware Law School. It explains the various resources available at the library as well as who to contact with questions or problems.

Research Assistance from the Library

#1 rule in the library- ask for help when you need it. Contact us:

Reference Librarians are available to help you:

  • Research using Online Databases including (but not limited to) Lexis and Westlaw
  • Learn how to use the Bluebook (citation guide)
  • Find topics and sources for papers
  • Request books from other libraries (Interlibrary Loan)

Lexis and Westlaw Access for JD Students and Matriculated Law School Graduate Students

  • The library administers individual usernames and passwords for JD and Law School Graduate students to access Lexis and Westlaw.
  • Passwords are distributed by email during Orientation
  • You must register both your Lexis and Westlaw accounts
  • First Year JD Students will attend mandatory Lexis and Westlaw training at the end of September (Matriculated law school graduate students are welcome to attend.)

Other Library Services

  • Print to the Library Copiers through the Print Center website: https://printcenter.widener.edu/myprintcenter/
    • You need your Widener ID Card to print, only black and white printers are available
    • Students get $32 of printing funds on their account each semester
    • Before you print for the first time, scan your ID card at any Pharos Kiosk (small touch screen next to each copier)
    • Printing Accounts are administered by the One Card office on the Chester Campus, contact them for troubleshooting and refunds of unprinted jobs. 
    • Upload your print job to the PrintCenter and then swipe your ID Card at any Pharos Kiosk, choose your print job listed by your login, click print.
  • Reserve a Study Room Online
    • There are 9 group study rooms (min 2 people), 1 large conference room (min 6 people) and 3 smaller rooms that can be books by an individual
    • Rooms can be reserved for 3-hours per day, per group.
  • In addition to books like the popular Study Aids and selected textbook collection, the library also circulates
