Widener Law Commonwealth Faculty and Adjunct Guide

This guide is specific to resources available on the Harrisburg campus.

Overview

Each full time faculty member, and adjunt member, is entitled to an individual password to access the databases of Bloomberg, Lexis, and Westlaw.  This individual password enables the faculty member to search these databases from anywhere in the US.

Training and help with ongoing searches is available from our reference librarians.

If you are having trouble with your log on information, or need to request access to Bloomberg, Lexis, or Westlaw, please contact Ed Sonnenberg.

Lexis

Lexis Advance has an extensive Help center accessible through the main page after you log on.  It is in the upper right hand corner, between settings and the logout options.

Westlaw

Westlaw has an extensive Help center accessible through the main page after you log on.  It is located at the bottom of the page between getting started and the Live Chat options.

TWEN User Home page is here.

Tips

As you may recall, Westlaw is no longer supporting the stand alone Westlaw printers found in the computer lab and in the library.  These printers are no longer operational.  All Westlaw print jobs will need to be sent to an attached printer should users want a hard copy of a case, statute, etc.  Printing costs will be born by the user.  Any cites that you have on your TWEN pages that are linked to Westlaw will incur a printing charge for the student should she/he choose to print out the cite(s).

To circumvent these printing charges Lexis, which still provides free printing, has come up with a way of linking cites on your TWEN course pages to Lexis.  The information on how to do this is what is contained in the attached letter.  Our Lexis rep., Tim Broms, is available to assist, should you wish to take advantage of this option.
